more about our church

Easter reminds believers of one powerful truth: the resurrection changes everything. Christianity stands on the reality of Jesus rising from the dead. In Gospel of Luke 24:36–43, the disciples encountered the risen Christ face to face. Initially, they were frightened and confused by what they saw. However, Jesus invited them to examine His hands and feet. Because of this moment, the disciples realized that the resurrection changes everything.

The Reality of the Resurrection

The resurrection was not simply an idea or memory. Instead, it was a physical and undeniable reality. In Gospel of Luke 24:39, Jesus said, “Touch me and see.” He wanted the disciples to understand that He truly lived again. Furthermore, He ate food with them to prove He was not a spirit. This powerful moment confirmed what the angels had already declared in Gospel of Luke 24:5–6: “He is not here, but has risen.” Consequently, believers can know with certainty that Jesus conquered death.

The Necessity of the Cross

Although the resurrection amazes us, the cross made it necessary. Jesus explained that everything written in the Law, Prophets, and Psalms pointed to His suffering. In Gospel of Luke 24:44–46, He reminded the disciples that the Messiah must suffer and rise again. Therefore, the cross was never an accident. It was God’s plan from the beginning. Because sin demands justice, a perfect sacrifice was required. Through the cross and resurrection, the resurrection changes everything for humanity.

The Urgency of the Task

After explaining these truths, Jesus gave His followers an urgent mission. In Gospel of Luke 24:47–48, He commanded them to proclaim repentance and forgiveness of sins. This message was not limited to one nation or culture. Instead, it was meant for all people everywhere. The disciples became eyewitnesses of the risen Savior. Later, this same message echoed in Acts of the Apostles 2 during Peter’s sermon. Because of their testimony, the gospel spread across the world.

The Importance of Waiting on God

Finally, Jesus instructed the disciples to wait for God’s power. In Gospel of Luke 24:49, He promised that they would be “clothed with power from on high.” Although they understood the message, they still needed God’s guidance. This teaches believers an important principle. God’s work must be done in God’s way and in God’s timing. Therefore, Christians must rely on God’s strength rather than their own plans. When we trust Him fully, the resurrection changes everything in how we live and share our faith.

Living in the Hope of the Resurrection

Ultimately, the resurrection is the foundation of Christian hope. Without it, faith would be empty and meaningless. However, 1 Corinthians 15:14 reminds us that Christ has truly been raised. Because Jesus defeated death, believers can also share in that victory. The resurrection promises a future transformation and eternal life. Therefore, every believer is called to respond in faith and obedience. When we understand the empty tomb, we realize again that the resurrection changes everything.

more about our church

I began my time with the Peachtree City Church of Christ as a church member. The shepherds brought me on staff, and over the years, the needs of the church have changed and so has my position. Today, I am the preaching minister. My time with this church and its leadership has been a treasure, and I'm looking forward to many more years in His service.

I have been fortunate to call this church home for more than twenty years. As my family has grown, our church family has been gracious in supporting us and caring so well for our two sons.

I can tell you that the Peachtree City Church is unique. We'd love to hear your needs, because this might be the church for you.
