A closer look at how we aim to spread God's word both internationally and in our own community.
In the book of Matthew, Jesus tells his disciples, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."
We believe that God has given us a gift in Christian community and in fellowship with each other. We give praise and glory to Him for the blessings found at this church. However, He has also given us a mission: Spread the Gospel.
In addition to ministering to our church families, we make an effort to minister to our local community and to areas around the world. We do this by supporting missionaries, performing service projects throughout the year, and financially supporting those who work to spread the Word of God. Keep reading to learn more.
The biggest way we partner with Healing Hands International is by hosting an annual "Walk4Water." Our event normally takes place in April.
During the spring, we raise funds for the event. Our walk has had as many as 500 registrants and more than 400 in person participants.
Together, we walk 4 miles in honor of the distance most people must walk in order to reach usable water. With the money raised, Healing Hands International goes all over the world and builds new wells for communities in need.
We have seen communities celebrate, plant churches and baptisms happen as a direct result of our walks. We are excited to continue this partnership and host walks for many years to come!
The Magi project focuses on meeting physical needs of a child living in poverty through a gift box while sharing Jesus with their families and communities. This is an annual effort at our church, usually occurring in the fall of each year.
We have also participated in special projects led by Healing Hands International, such as sending aid for those around the world in unexpected circumstances. Because of this partnership, we have had the opportunity to shine light and share hope with thousands of refugees. These efforts happen as needed rather than annually.
Our church helps to fund scholarships for students at Freed-Hardeman or Faulkner University, especially those students looking to pursue a career in ministry.

All it takes is a little bit of light to dispell the darkness. Love, no matter how small, has the potential to overcome pain and anger and trauma [...] Small experiences can have life changing effects [...] Love of any kind, no matter how small, is a light.

We provide some financial support to Rainbow Omega in Alabama. Rainbow Omega serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Residents are cared for while maintaining a safe level of independence. Learn more about it on their website.
All year long, our church collects donations of miscellaneous items. We then host an event, open to the community, where we give everything away for free. Attendees can find items such as furniture, decor, equipment, clothes, baby items and more! During the event, we often serve drinks and snacks. Our members always enjoy meeting members of the community, and we always make sure to give them a personal invitation to worship with us on the following Sunday. We appreciate church member Christy McCollough for all of her hard work on this project!

I never noticed how such small things to me can mean the world to others. I am truly blessed and this week has really encouraged me to help these and other organizations around my community.
