We are closing a series on Scripture and renewal. Today, we focus on feeding the mind with God’s Word. The church feels like a shared feast each week. However, true nourishment begins before we gather. Therefore, we prepare our hearts by lingering in Scripture.
What Christian Meditation Really Means
Many picture meditation as emptying thoughts and relaxing. However, biblical meditation is different and active. It means filling our thoughts with God’s truth. Moreover, it means attentive reflection, not passive drifting. We ponder, listen, and let Scripture shape our inner life.
Three Threads: Meditation, Obedience, Blessing
Joshua, the Psalms, and James all emphasize the importance of knowing God’s word. First, we meditate day and night on God’s law. Then, we act as doers, not forgetful hearers. Consequently, God brings fruitfulness and real success. This pattern is how feeding the mind becomes a faithful life.
How to Linger, Not Just Glance
Don’t just read; steep in the text thoughtfully. Like tea, Scripture transforms what it touches with time. Therefore, stoop down and investigate words and meanings. Memorize passages so responses come from truth. Additionally, obedience proves meditation has truly taken root.
Living the Result, Not Just the Idea
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life.” Therefore, we trust Him and follow His commands. Then, blessings flow as effectiveness and spiritual fruit. Finally, continue feeding the mind so devotion outruns desire. Come to the weekly feast already warmed by Scripture.
