L2L is the oldest and largest leadership training program used by the churches of Christ today. It is a tool churches of Christ can use to help prepare their youth and adults for service in the Kingdom of God and help develop their overall leadership potential.
Throughout the year, students will participate in events created to help them practice skills used to lead in their local churches.
Every Easter weekend, a convention is held where students exhibit these skills and, often, prizes are awarded.
The goal of L2L is to provide churches of Christ with effective, year-round leadership training tools. Students with a willingness to serve in their youth & into adulthood enriches the church body and helps to grow the Kingdom of God. We love to support our youth in their excitement to serve the church & teach others about God.
The Providers is for young men in grades 3-12. Young men can participate in up to three of the categories suggested by the Lads to Leaders program. Young ladies who participate in Keepers can choose ONE Providers event to participate in as credit for their own event, if they would like to do so.
In 2025, participants may choose from the following: lawn mower use and repair, basic plumbing, basic carpentry, basic painting, basic electrical, and basic car maintenance. Plan to commit up to 6 days time between now and the registration deadline.
The Wilderness Challenge will be available to both young men and women in grades 3-12. The event skills included in the challenge will include
1. Character
2. Packing
3. Shelter
4. Fire
5. Self Defense
6. Survival
7. Map Reading
8. Hiking
The requirements for grades 3-6 focus on participating in group discussions in all 8 of the event skills, while grades 7-12 will be teaching the skills. Most of the skills will require a speech of a minimum of 3 minutes long for grades 3-6 and 4 ½ minutes long for grades 7-12. These speeches can be a part of year round speech (for those participating)! This group will meet 8 times between now and the registration deadline and most can be done at he building. The challenge will culminate with a 5 mile hike (TBD) where all will participate. Grades 7-12 will plan and conduct the hike.
Throughout the year, we will work with teens on their respective events. Boys and girls will have many opportunities to practice events such as Speech & Song Leading in group settings. Special gatherings will be held to work on Bible Bowl, Mass Media, Good Samaritan, Keepers and more. Our puppet teams will meet to practice their performance several times during the Spring. Together, these efforts help our youth to see the importance of fellowship as well as service to the church. With specific questions, contact Ben Weinhardt.
